Why Go Green in RI?
Reception and Awards Event
Saturday, July 26, 2008  7-9 p.m.

A special thanks to the WMOA Summer Interns: Laura Amador, Brittany Gomes, and Dan Zielinski for their vision to reach out to the creative community with a unique photography contest. They asked: Why Go Green in Rhode Island, and what does "going green" mean to local RI photographers?

The result, photographers from the area entered their visions: a combination of rich landscapes, strong statements, and not-so-subtle foreshadowing of environmental concerns if "going green" doesn't become become part of the everyday vocabulary.

Out of all the entries that were received, the photographic works from the following people have been selected for this show:

  • Bryan Anderson
  • Jillian Barber
  • Meghan Colannino
  • Sean DeSilva
  • Michael Kieron
  • Melanie LaMountain
  • Monica Mackenzie-Vacca
  • Joseph Mauro
  • Laurel Mulherin
  • Courtney E. Schmidt
  • Katerina Stepanova

Please join us on Saturday, July 26, 2008 from 7-9 p.m. for the opening reception and awards event that celebrate the photographers (and the hard work of the interns).  The awards ceremony will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. Prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners.  Prizes for "The Most Environmentally Friendly" and an award for "Audience Favorite" will also be presented.

Awards have been generously sponsored by the Warwick Department of Tourism and Green Envy.

The Why Go Green in RI? show runs until August 26th.
