College Interns

WMOA is always looking for college students to help with gallery exhibits, marketing, and art camps. Working alongside our staff is an excellent way to add valuable experience to a resume while helping to support our busy non-profit arts center. 

College students with excellent communication skills, maturity and responsibility, and enthusiasm are welcome to apply. Internships run 8-12 weeks (March to May, June to August, September to December) with work for the following majors:

  • Gallery Interns = Fine Arts Majors; Business Majors
  • Education Interns = Arts Education Majors; Elementary Education Majors 
  • Graphic Design Interns = Graphic Arts Majors; Graphic Design Majors
  • Public Relations Interns = Communications Majors; Marketing Majors; Writing Majors
  • Social Media Interns = Communications Majors, Marketing Majors 

Year round gallery hours are:

  • Tuesdays  – Fridays     10:00 - 5:00 pm          
  • Saturdays                          10:00 - 3:00 pm
Summer Camp hours are:
  • Monday - Fridays  08:45 - 4:15 pm
Internships are unpaid but there may be small summer internship stipends for RI students who attend colleges out of state; please call the office for more information about this state-sponsored internship program during the summer.

Volunteers

If you love the arts and have a few extra hours a month, consider getting involved with WMOA. We're always looking for enthusiastic and responsible arts lovers to help as:

  • Camp Aids - class set-up and cleanup, assisting individual campers *
  • Office Aids - answering phones, answering questions, updating databases
  • Cleaning & Maintenance - main gallery, art classroom, and grounds
  • Outreach - gallery tours for school groups followed by a small craft project *
  • Special Events - set-up and cleanup, greeting guests, and busing tables

* Anyone working with or around children will be required to submit a background check to the Office of the Attorney General.
